Hey, here's a quiz thing that actually fits me :P

katana:
This sword is a work of art from all aspects. The
graceful craftsmanship is superb; the materials
and the crisp fit and finish are excellent.
Apart from the large size, the most striking
feature is the number of reflective surfaces;
every movement made results in a fleeting
spark, flash or glint--direct sunlight scatters
off the polished blade surfaces in an intensely
dazzling dance of light. The pronounced fuller
is a very impressive feature, providing
strength while reducing weight; this combined
with the laminated steel and authentic geometry
results in a truly outstanding sword

Weekend Junk
01.19.04 (7:47 am)   [edit]
Well, this weekend has been a blur. I think I'm still suffering from fatigue-related hangover...

So anyway, on Friday, I had my audition for the one open Alto Sax spot in Wind Ensemble. Even though I think I should inherit that spot, at least I can say I won it fairly in contest. The audition went over very well. I knew something clicked when I amazed Mr. Cotter with the fact that I didn't take private lessons. I'm pretty confident that I was able to win the position. But the only way we'll find out is when they finally release the Wind Ensemble lists in February.

On Saturday morning, I ran all around town with my dad putting up signs for the Chinese New Year party that night. Keep in mind that it was 22 degrees outside. Then, at 1:00PM, we went to the Health Sciences Center cafeteria to set up the decorations and tables and electronics equipment. I did not leave until 9:30 that night. It was raining (with snow on the ground) while we were loading up the the cars with equipment, so we were being drizzled upon while slipping and sliding down the sidewalks. Eventually, we finally managed to get everything put away so we could all go home. When I got home, I went to the computer and talked to Jenn and Doyle, then played C&C Generals: Zero Hour until about 12:30, then just sort of collapsed into bed and fell asleep.

On Sunday, we couldn't even get out of our neighborhood to go to church, so we just kinda sat at home. By the time 6:00PM rolled around, the roads had cleared enough that I could get to pit orchestra practice, so I went. I figured it would be too dangerous to stay out past that, so I ended up having to cancel going to see Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ...

Ah well, hopefully we can get all the people in for our next shot at it. It's all good 8)

Kicking Your Own Ass vs. Killing Yourself
01.15.04 (3:58 pm)   [edit]
Ah, yes. Today was a good day. I may have had the AP Chem finals in the morning, but I got to go to the REC Center with Doyle, where we played racquetball, ran the track, and lifted weights.

The highlight of my day was racquetball. Now, the way we played it wasn't quite um, shall we say regulation, but it was awesome to the extreme. Think of it as training in the Construct (from the Matrix), and learning how to dodge bullets or turn them around and shoot them back. THAT was the way we played. Heck, I think it would be more fun to play it that way than the normal way. Besides, we get a full body workout :D

And today, I also defined the difference between killing yourself and kicking your own ass. Killing yourself is premeditated and torturous, whereas kicking your own ass is spontaneous and enjoyable (the way we do it anyway). :P ah well, it's all good.
